Based on the ninth circle of hell in Dante's Inferno, BLACK GARDEN begins on Christmas Eve in the near future. It's eight days after the end of World War III and a handful of survivors wait to die, except one. As Kate makes contact with an unknown radio broadcaster, she travels on foot in search of his broadcast location until the true intention of the voice reveals himself. With no working government or a functioning society, Kate goes it alone in the aftermath of silence and stillness.
BLACK GARDEN is a 90 minute Australian dystopian science fiction film made by filmmakers Tammy Honey (producer) and Shaun Wilson (director). Staring Cara Culligan (Kate) and Garry Keltie (Trivi), the micro-budget debut feature described by Filmink as 'an apocalyptic nightmare' was filmed in Melbourne, Geelong, and the Bellarine Peninsula in southern Australia between 2016-2018 and screened at both the Cannes and Venice Film Festival markets in 2019 and numerous official selections which followed.
